Creating Resources with Diffit

Although we all have resources from our textbooks, most of the time we need to create our own. New resources may need to be more specific, cover material better, or need to be adjusted for the number of questions or amount of content. Doing this from scratch is a lot of work. This is where sites like Diffit come in handy. This site will create all the resources you would ever need with just a simple web search. You need to give Diffit a try!

Create Resources:

  1. Head to web.diffit.me

  2. Sign in with Google.

  3. Using the “Literally Anything” tab, choose a Topic and Grade Level for the material then click on “Generate Resources”.

  1. You will have a resource created with a reading selection, vocabulary, multiple styles of quiz questions, and more. Click on the green “Get Student Activities” button.

  1. Scroll through and choose the type of resource you want to create to share with your students. Some of these activities will be “Subscription Only” like creating Google Forms, but many will be free.

  1. You will have the option of how to share this resource. The Free version will allow you to save this as a PDF.

  1. Even with this limitation, all you have to do is edit the original in any of the text/editing areas.

  1. Share and enjoy your customized resources! To see all your created resources, head to the My Resources” tab at the top.

Ideogram AI Image Creator

It seems that every day there is a new AI image tool being created. Some of these are great and even free. One that is worth looking into is Ideogram. This tool will create an image from a text description. It is easy to use and FREE.

  • One thing to keep in mind, this is a public tool. Everything created is shared with everyone. That means that there could be some questionable images displayed. I would recommend that only teachers or older students use this tool, and not K-5 kiddos.

Create a Custom AI Image:

  1. Head over to https://ideogram.ai/.

  2. Create an account (it is free and stores your creations for easy finding later).

  3. In the box at the top type in a description of what you want your image to be.

  1. Choose your image size and click “Generate”.

  1. It will take a few moments and your images will appear.

  1. If you like one click on it and choose the version you want. Then click the download icon. If you want you can edit your description and try again or click “Remix”.

Nothing is perfect, and you will have some things that do not work out all the time (like some of the text in my images above) but you can just remix or try again until you get what you need. Give it a try!

AI Tools for Education

It is more than just the newest buzzword. AI (Artificial Intelligence) is something that has been improving for years. It is just now becoming so powerful that it is coming to the attention of so many. With the new advancements in machine learning, we are now able to do more than ever before. These programs can “create” in ways never possible. ChatGPT (one of the newest creations) can actually write poetry with rhyme, rhythm, and content if given a topic and type of pattern desired. It really is amazing! These tools may help educators and students, and at the same time force change in how we assess. Some of the writing created in these AI programs are no different than what your students create. This will cause us to rethink how we assign and assess writing projects! AI Art with Scribble Diffusion

Drawing is not my strong suit. Basically, I can’t even draw a symmetrical stick figure. Google has a great tool called AutoDraw (how-to here). It can make clipart-style images, but there is another tool that makes better photo/painting-style images from your sketches. Check out Scribble Diffusion to turn your chicken scratches into fine art!

Use AI to Create Fine Art:

  1. Head over to scribblediffusion.com

  2. Draw a basic image of how you want your fine art laid out.

  1. Type in a basic description of what your image contains (Ex: a goofy owl).

  1. Click “Go” and let the magic happen.

  1. If you want something different, click “Go” again or edit your sketch or text description.

  1. Right-click on the image and click “Save image as” to treasure this forever.

  2. If you want to start over click “Clear” and repeat the previous steps.

Here are examples of just hitting the “Go” button again:

Check out a video walkthrough here: Scribble Diffusion Walkthrough

Head over to scribblediffusion.com and start creating!

TinyWow: an AI Writing Tool

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is all over the news right now with the new ChatGTP AI tool launching. With ChatGTP an AI creates writing from a topic. It is really amazing, but also something to be keeping an eye on due to the ease of having writing created by an AI and not people. If you just want to have your existing writing “peer-edited” by an AI, there is an awesome and free tool to help you: TinyWow. I use this for converting and editing images, video, audio, and more, but it also has an AI Writers’ Tool to help you improve your writing. Check it out.

Have an AI Edit Your Writing:

  1. Head over to tinywow.com/tools/write.

  2. Click on “Write” at the top.

  1. Choose the tool you want to use. There are many to choose from.

  1. Put your original text in the box on the left. Then click the “Generate” button.

  1. In a moment, the box on the right will fill with some AI-generated text. This is a usable version of what you wrote. You can copy/paste this and edit/use it as you see fit or you can click “Download” and save it as a text file on your device or to your Google Drive.

If you really want to be impressed try one of the writers (Paragraph Writer, Essay Writer, etc). They create writing based on a topic (similar to ChatGTP). They are pretty cool!
